The Pilates method is a system of controlled exercises that engage the mind and condition the body. It is a combination of strength and flexibility training that improves posture, minimizes the risk of injury, reduces stress and creates long lean muscles.
As a certified Pilates instructor for 15 years, I have developed a class format that works several different muscle groups at once, through smooth, continuous flowing movements and yoga based sequences that focus on strengthening and stabilizing the core – abdominals, back and pelvic region.
In Pilates you concentrate on the quality of the movement rather than the quantity, which leaves you feeling refreshed rather than exhausted. Pilates takes a balanced approach so that no muscle group is overworked. You are encouraged to concentrate on how you are feeling, which promotes a true mind-body workout.
